Chairs Report- Anne Siddle
Anne reported on how we were doing with regards members and this time last year we had 55 full members (clinical) and 27 corporate members. This year we currently have 51 full (clinical members) and 25 corporate members. During 2010 we did have new members join but unfortunately there were nurses who also retired or due to NHS changes no longer have a job. These memberships will obviously not be renewed This is a true marker of the current economical climate we all live in, a few members have also not renewed their membership as their Trusts will no longer pay for this as they have done in previous years. We do intend to try and attract as many new members as possible during this forthcoming year.
Attendance at meetings, the average clinical member attendance at each meetings last year was 13, the Christmas meeting saw 22 members attend. In total, including corporate members we had an average 20 people attend the branch meetings. The Clinical Forums did attract more attendees for the afternoon sessions so they do appear to be working however the numbers attending is still on the low side.
Posts up for renewal March 2012. The following posts are up for election next year and anyone wishing to put their name forward need to do so by the end of this year. The posts are The Chairperson, The Secretary, Branch Officer and Assistant Branch officer. All existing committee members have stated that they will continue in post if no one wishes to take over next year.
Financial Report- Anna Cracknell
Our current balance is £2,434.12. We generated £2940 from the last study day and spent £1681 leaving us with a profit of £1258.52. The profit has gone towards the Educational Grants and the ACA Conference place. We should generate enough profit from this year’s study day to continue the grants for 2012 has been set.
Educational Officers Report – Andrea Bradley
Andrea worked really hard last year ensuring that we had our Clinical Forum slots filled and this year looks as if will be just as successful. She nearly has all the slots filled for each of the meetings and after discussion it was decided that it would be useful if each Forum included a session where clinicians could discuss Hot Topics, local policies, case studies as well as sharing Best Practice. Our study day will take place on the 27th September 2011.
Educational Grants 2011: The following grants have been awarded for 2011; Joanne Whiteley received £250 to help fund her place at IUGA in Lisbon as did Linda Greenman. Anne Siddle has received £250 towards her attendance at UKCS in Bristol. Liz Brown and Marilyn Siddall both received £250 towards their attendance at the RCN Conference. Kath Humberstone will put her £250 grant towards her University Dissertation well done to you all and we will look forward to reading about it in the ACA Newsletter section that we have to send in.
The ACA Conference place was awarded to Linda Greenman following the draw which took place today. All interested parties submitted their names prior to this meeting today.
Educational Grants for 2012; The format for applications for the educational grants will remain the same for next year. It will be a first come first served basis and applications can be submitted after the 1st January 2012
