29.10.07 - James Lind Alliance Working Partnership on Urinary Incontinence
The ACA has agreed, as an affiliate, to participate in the James Lind Alliance Working Partnership on Urinary Incontinence. This project is about helping patients, carers and clinicians to work together to identify and then to prioritise important areas of uncertainty about the effectiveness of treatments for urinary incontinence. When we speak of *important areas of uncertainty* we mean questions about treatments which are of day to day importance for patients, carers and the clinicians to whom they turn for help but which cannot be adequately answered by existing research evidence. Each participating organisation is consulting with its membership to ask what areas of uncertainty relating to the treatment of urinary incontinence have affected them.
There is a short questionnaire that you can complete, which you can access below. General guidance notes about how the questionnaire might be distributed have also been developed (below). Please return it to the James Lind address, which is detailed in the questionnaire. Thank you for your time and assistance.

The ACA is currently involved in the Department of Health consultation of Part IX of the Drug Tariff for the provision of stoma and incontinence appliances -and related services- to primary care. This consultation is of considerable importance to those Continence services who use the services of delivery companies and company nurses for parts of their services, as there may be an effect upon the structure of provision. It is also of considerable importance to many of our corporate members.
Please take time to visit the proposals at www.dh.gov.uk\liveconsultations This consultation closes on Nov 29th 2007
Please email any comments to Cath Williams Catherine.Williams2@nhs.net 2 weeks before the end of the consultation, who will collate and return comments on behalf of the ACA.
