Interest Groups
Special Interest Groups (SIG)
Special Interest Groups are multi-professional groups who share a special interest in a particular aspect of continence care.
Membership of SIGs: Open to ACA members only. Each SIG must have a minimum of 10 members.
Current Groups
- Bowel Interest Group
- Functional Disability Interest Group
- Pelvic Floor Interest Group
Terms of reference – each SIG must comply with the following:
- Apply to the ACA Executive to establish a SIG
- Will comply with the Memorandum and Articles of the Association
- Have a co-ordinator who is responsible for liaising with ACA Executive.
- To share and initiate evidence based practice to the wider ACA membership
- To provide a forum for the support and networking within the group.
- To raise awareness of current research / new products / clinical practice pertinent to the SIG
- To provide education initiatives. (i.e. study days, these may be open to non-members of the ACA for a pre arranged fee).
- All activities must use the ACA logo & ACA approved certificates of attendance
SIGs must present an annual report and a membership list to the ACA Executive for the AGM
- SIGs must be self-funding, if any finances are involved they must be appropriately banked and documented.
- There should be an appointed treasurer
- Any bank account opened must be through the ACA at the Royal Bank of Scotland.
- A financial report should be submitted as part of the annual report.
ACA commitment to SIGS
- Time allocated to SIGs at ACA conference.
- Space available quarterly in the ACA newsletter
- Designated space on the ACA website to provide information or create discussion.
