The Nursing Times Awards 2011 are your national platform. They offer individual nurses or teams working in any setting in the NHS or independent sector, in a permanent or temporary/bank/agency capacity, the opportunity to demonstrate just what this exceptional profession is capable of, to share their creativity and innovation, and demonstrate their compassion and commitment. They are also a forum through which the wider profession can learn about the outstanding initiatives that are improving patients' experiences of care and increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare provision.
The Continence Promotion and Care category rewards initiatives and innovations that promote continence, increase the effectiveness of care and improve the quality of life of people with these problems It is open to individual nurses or teams working in acute care, the community - including nursing and residential homes - and those working in specialist continence services.
Entries can be from individuals or teams from the NHS or independent sector who must be able to demonstrate how a change in practice has resulted in clear improvements in patients' or clients' continence or enhancement of their dignity through interventions that minimise the impact of continence problems. The Nursing Times A Seat on The Board Campaign
The Nursing Times A Seat on The Board Campaign has been launched (7th December 2010). In this initiative, NT are trying to ensure that nurses' voices get heard on the commissioning consortia when they are set up. The aim of the campaign is to ensure that the four bodies that will issue guidance to fledgling consortia recommend strongly that nurses are included on the boards. This is important to ensure that the NHS is shaped by people who have the greatest degree of hands-on care and see patients throughout their journey through the patient pathway. The failure to include nurses will result in an NHS that does not understand the holistic needs of the patient, and that could impact on patient care and safety.
We are aiming to get 10,000 signatures so please visit nursingtimes.net<http://nursingtimes.net> and click on the A Seat on The Board logo, or go to seat on the board to sign the petition.
